What kind of bike is recommended for the race?+

Gravel bikes with tires of 35mm or more are recommended, though mountain bikes have also been used successfully by participants.

What is included in the race entry fee?+

The entry fee includes a local SIM card with data, luggage storage in Kigali, discounts at a partner hotel, pre-race breakfast, GPS tracker rental with live tracking, the GPX route file, food and lodging at selected checkpoints, race goodies (t-shirt, cap, gifts), a finisher award, HD photos, and a finisher party.

What are the key rules regarding support during the race?+

This is a self-supported race, meaning no drafting, no support cars, no external help from supporters, and riders must fix their own mechanicals. Participants can use commercially available services like hotels, restaurants, or local bike mechanics.

What are the age and fitness requirements to participate?+

Participants must be at least 18 years old on the race start day, sign a declaration of physical fitness, and provide proof of insurance.

What is the time limit for completing the race?+

The race has a time limit of 159 hours from the 5 AM Sunday start, requiring riders to finish by the Saturday evening party. Cut-off times for individual checkpoints will be announced later.

Is there a prize for the winner?+

The winner of the Race Around Rwanda receives a big hug from the organizers.
