FAQs

What is the terrain like and what type of bike is recommended?+

The route is approximately 60% paved and 40% unpaved, including gravel, loose rock, mud, and potentially singletrack sections. Gravel or mountain bikes with tires wider than 46mm are recommended.

What are the expected weather conditions and temperatures?+

Colombia's climate varies significantly with altitude. Expect hot and humid conditions (up to 40°C) at lower elevations (0-1500m), temperate weather (18-25°C) in mid-altitudes (1500-2500m), and cold conditions (4-17°C), often with rain, at higher altitudes, especially in the páramo regions.

What kind of support is provided during the race?+

This is a self-supported bikepacking event. The organization does not provide accommodation, nutrition, or any form of assistance. A 'broom wagon' is available to collect participants who cannot continue, but accepting its help leads to disqualification.

How will navigation work during the race?+

The route is not signposted. Participants will be provided with GPS files (GPX, KML, FIT) to upload to a navigation device or app. A GPS tracker will also be provided for live tracking and has an SOS button for emergencies.
