Visit official site →This event is for highly resilient and experienced bikepackers and gravel riders seeking a profound physical and mental challenge in a stunning, wild environment.
Riders who are not prepared for extreme weather conditions, technical unpaved terrain, sustained climbing, or complete self-sufficiency will find this race exceptionally difficult.
Training should prioritize long-distance endurance, climbing strength, off-road bike handling skills, and mental fortitude to cope with self-supported conditions and varied weather.

Gravel or mountain bikes are recommended due to the 40% unpaved sections, which may include loose rock and mud. Riders should equip tires 45mm wide or wider and consider a gearing ratio such as 38T x 52T to manage the long, steep climbs.
The route traverses the rugged and humid Colombian Andes, featuring long and steep ascents, loose rock, and mud. Participants should be prepared for extreme temperature fluctuations (from 4°C to 40°C), high humidity, and a very high probability of rain, especially in higher altitude páramos.
The route is not marked. Participants receive a geographic information file (GPX, KML, FIT) that must be loaded onto a GPS cycling computer or a navigation app on a mobile device. Riders are responsible for having and knowing how to use their navigation equipment.
Transcordilleras is a self-supported event; the organization does not provide accommodation, provisions, or assistance on the route. A 'broom wagon' follows the group to pick up participants who cannot continue, but receiving mechanical assistance from this vehicle leads to disqualification.
Mandatory items include a helmet and front/rear lights. Recommended equipment includes a good quality waterproof jacket, comfortable shoes (for potential bike pushing), a cycling computer for navigation, a basic mechanical repair kit, a portable battery pack, insect repellent, and personal medical coverage.
Human settlements offering provisions are found frequently along most of the route, with the longest stretch between supply points being approximately 40 km. However, participants should be especially cautious in protected areas within cordillera crossings, where no infrastructure or services are available. Drinking water directly from rivers or lakes is not recommended due to livestock presence.
