How much does it cost to enter the Salida Big Friggin Loop?+

Registration is completely free, but it is mandatory to sign up beforehand, and entries are limited to a maximum of 74 riders.

What are the different route options available?+

Riders can choose between the Long Loop (approximately 105 miles with over 12,000 feet of climbing) and the Base Loop/Loopito (approximately 90 miles with over 10,500 feet of climbing). There is also an optional technical singletrack detour via the Cottonwood Trail.

Is the course marked or supported?+

No, the event is entirely unsupported and the course is unmarked. Riders must be fully self-sufficient and use a GPS device to navigate the route.

What should I prepare for regarding weather and safety?+

Extreme heat has caused numerous DNFs in past years. Riders are advised to bring significantly more water capacity than expected, carry ample electrolytes, and prepare for high-altitude backcountry conditions.

How do I submit my finish time?+

Upon completing the ride at Benson's Tavern in downtown Salida, you must record your finishing time on the physical sign-up sheet and post a screenshot or Strava link of your ride to the event's website to verify you followed the course.
