Riders can choose between two main routes: the full 90-mile Huffmaster course with 4,866 feet of climbing, and the 55-mile Huffmaster Mini course with 3,245 feet of climbing.
The course features a mix of paved roads and gravel/dirt. The 90-mile route is approximately 54% paved and 46% dirt, while the 55-mile route consists of 59% pavement and 41% dirt.
The event is based in Maxwell, California, with the ride starting at Maxwell High School. Packet pickup is also available next to the Maxwell Fire Department on race morning.
If extreme weather makes the primary gravel route impassable or dangerous, a 'Plan B' backup route is set up to follow Leesville Road down to the valley and back to Maxwell.
No racing licenses are required. Categories are open to male and female riders across various age groups (Pro, Under 18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+), as well as a non-binary category.
Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Granzella’s Inn, and on race morning from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM at Maxwell High School.
