Beginners or riders new to off-road cycling and those unprepared for significant, often sharp, climbs and technical gravel sections may find this event very difficult.

There are three routes: a 100km long route with 1700m elevation, a 66km medium route with 1200m elevation, and a 48km short route with approximately 800m elevation. The long route is rated as challenging, the medium as moderately challenging, and the short route as having some harder sections.
The routes are approximately 50% off-road and 50% on quiet backroads. Off-road sections include gravel tracks, singletrack, chalky ridges, and some rocky parts, alongside glorious coastal paths and woodland trails. The Isle of Wight is notably hilly throughout the course.
Gravel bikes are ideal for this event, but a hardtail mountain bike would also be suitable. It's recommended to use a wider all-rounder gravel tyre, specifically between 40-50mm, for all three route options.
Riders will benefit from a fully signed route, accurate GPX files, checkpoints offering proper food and drinks like tea, coffee, cake, sandwiches, and crisps. There will also be mechanics available at the rider village and selected feed stops, rider support vans, and a complimentary beer and food truck at the finish line.
On September 19th, the ride village in Freshwater opens at 7:30 am. Ride starts are staggered between 8:00 am and 9:30 am. The rider village will close at 6:00 pm, and ride times and photos will be sent out by 7:00 pm.
