Both routes are roughly 90% off-road, featuring challenging climbs (including a 300m concrete wall at 12% and a 600m climb up to 11%), gravel sections along Lake Marathon with soft terrain, and farm roads with alternating rough and smoother gravel. The final 1.5 km returns to asphalt.
