Difficulty: 4/5 — Very hard
This gravel epic offers three routes of 116km, 80km, and 50km through the rolling forest trails and farm tracks of northern Nottinghamshire, featuring over 1,000m of climbing on the longest course. It's known for its exceptionally smooth gravel and hard-packed earth, making it one of the year's most accessible gravel adventures.
Visit official site →This event is ideal for riders seeking a mid-summer gravel adventure on mostly smooth surfaces, with route options catering from first-timers to experienced riders looking for a longer challenge.
Riders expecting steep, technical climbs or challenging singletrack will find this route less demanding, while those unprepared for a full day in the saddle on the longer options might find it physically taxing.
Training should focus on endurance for long distances, consistent power output for rolling terrain, and comfort on varied non-technical gravel and dirt surfaces.

Riders can choose from three distances: an epic 116km route with 1,050m of climbing, a fun 80km option with 700m of elevation, or a shorter 50km course, with the choice able to be made on the day.
The routes primarily consist of smooth gravel, hard-packed earth, forest fire roads, and farm tracks, with about 80% off-road sections and the remainder on quiet back roads. Conditions can be fast-rolling when dry but muddy and slippery if wet.
The 50km route is considered easy and ideal for first-time gravel riders, while the 80km offers a moderate challenge. The 116km route is a significant day out, suitable for regular riders with some training, featuring rolling hills and one tough climb, making the event generally suitable for all abilities due to route choice.
Gravel bikes are ideal, but hardtail mountain bikes are also suitable. All-rounder gravel tires with a width of 35-45mm are recommended for all three routes.
Entry includes fully signed routes, GPX files, checkpoints with proper food and drinks (tea, coffee, cake, sandwiches, crisps), on-site mechanics at the rider village and some feed stops, and rider support vans for major mechanicals or collections. A beer and food truck are available at the finish line.
On July 11th, the rider village opens at 7:30 am for number collection. The ride start window is from 7:45 am to 8:45 am, with short briefings and small group departures. The rider village closes at 6:00 pm, and ride times and photos will be emailed by 7:00 pm.
