The route is split evenly between on-road back roads and off-road sections. Off-road surfaces vary from smooth gravel and forest tracks to rockier parts and narrow trails.
Both routes are physically challenging with significant climbing, rated four out of five for difficulty. Technically, the long and medium routes are also rated four out of five, suitable for experienced off-road cyclists due to varied and potentially difficult sections.
Gravel bikes are ideal, but hardtail mountain bikes are also suitable. Wider, all-rounder tyres (40-50mm) are generally recommended, with knobbier tyres advisable if conditions are wet.
The event offers a fully signed route, accurate GPX files, feed stops with food and drink, mobile mechanics, and rider support vans for major issues or pickups.
The ride village in Hope opens at 7:30 am on October 31st, with staggered starts between 8:00 am and 8:30 am. The village closes at 5:00 pm, and ride times and photos will be sent by 7:00 pm.
