FAQs

What is the format of La Gloria?+

La Gloria is a self-supported, single-stage bikepacking event with a fixed route across the mountains of Gran Canaria. It is a personal challenge, not a race.

What kind of bike and gear are recommended?+

A gravel or mountain bike with low gearing, a light setup, and a minimum tyre width of 40 mm is recommended. Participants must carry a 2-liter water capacity and be prepared for cold temperatures and rain at altitude, with a bivy setup suggested for flexibility.

Are there any qualification requirements?+

The event is open to a maximum of 99 riders with proven experience.

What are the cut-off times for the event?+

Participants have a 54-hour cut-off time to complete the 300km route. Checkpoints have specific closing times: Ayacata (km 50) closes after 6 hours, Tejeda (km 150) closes after 12 hours, and the finish in Maspalomas (km 300) has a final cut-off after 54 hours.

How is the start order determined?+

Participants can ride a 20 km Short Track course before accreditation, and their times will determine cap numbers and start order for the ITT-style start. Those who don't ride the Short Track will be assigned random cap numbers.

What logistics are included or excluded from the entry fee?+

The 160€ entry fee includes a tracker device and tracking system, for which a 100€ refundable deposit is required. Accommodations, meals, transport, and personal insurance are not included.
