What are the available race distances and their elevation gains?+
Riders can choose between two routes: a long option covering approximately 140 kilometers with 2100 meters of elevation, or a short option of around 110 kilometers with 1450 meters of elevation.
What type of bike and gear is recommended for this event?+
The course is designed for gravel bikes and mountain bikes. Road bikes are not permitted. Riders should ensure they have robust, almost new tires (at least 35mm width, medium profile recommended) and new brake pads, as the terrain includes steep descents. A helmet is mandatory.
What is included with a full weekend ticket?+
A full weekend ticket provides 2 nights of camping from September 18th to 20th, a Smugglers Cave BBQ on Friday, two breakfasts at Smugglers Cave (Saturday and Sunday), the race start ticket, GPX route file, technical support at the start and first feeding point, first aid, a French Borders Cap, frame sticker, pre-ride coffee, two on-ride stops, post-ride hamburger and beer on Saturday, a pizza party on Saturday night, a Sunday morning Hangover GravelRide, a limited French Borders T-shirt, SMGGLRS Roff Socks, and a well-stocked goodie bag.
Where are the event and camping located?+
The main event and camping location is Smugglers Cave at Station de Trail, Avenue de René Demarteau 6887 Herbeumont, Belgium. Additional camping is available at Camping Champ le Monde, Rue du Champ Du monde 4 6887 Herbeumont.
What food and drink provisions are available during and after the ride?+
During the ride, there are two stops with provisions. At the finish, participants receive a traditional hamburger and fresh beer. Weekend ticket holders also enjoy a Friday night BBQ, Saturday night pizza party, and two breakfasts. Pre-ride coffee is also provided.
Will there be technical support or first aid on the course?+
Yes, technical support is available at the start and the first feeding point. First aid services are provided at the first feeding point and at the finish line.
