Visit official site →This event is ideal for regular cyclists and off-road riders who enjoy a challenging day out with significant climbing and technical gravel sections.
Riders unfamiliar with sustained climbing, technical off-road surfaces, or longer distances will likely find the longer route particularly demanding.
Training should prioritize sustained and punchy climbing, along with developing bike handling skills for mixed technical gravel, chalky sections, and steeper descents.

There are two main routes available: a 94km long route with 1350m of elevation, which is considered fairly challenging with multiple climbs and technical sections, and a 65km medium route with 650m of elevation, which still includes plenty of ups and downs but avoids some of the tougher climbs.
Approximately 60% of the route is off-road, offering a mix of surfaces including smooth gravel, chalky sections, and more technical terrain, with some steeper off-road descents and varied trails across the Purbeck Hills and Wareham Forest.
Gravel bikes are recommended, and hardtail mountain bikes are also suitable. For general conditions, wider, all-rounder tires (40-50mm) are ideal, but if the weather is wet, knobbly tires would be more appropriate.
Riders will benefit from a fully signed route, accurate GPX files, checkpoints offering food and drinks like tea, coffee, cake, sandwiches, and crisps. Mechanics will be available at the rider village and selected feed stops, and support vans are on call for major issues.
On September 26th, the ride village near Wareham opens at 7:45 am, with riders starting in small groups between 8:00 am and 8:45 am after a brief briefing. The rider village will close at 6:00 pm that evening.
Yes, the medium route diverges from the long route at the 27km mark, allowing participants to choose their preferred distance at that point based on how they are feeling.
