What is the terrain and climate like on the route?+

The route features diverse terrains, including lush forests, arid semi-desert plains, and mountainous massifs with clay soil and rock. Riders should prepare for significant climate variations, ranging from heat and wind in the Bardenas and Ebro river areas to near 0°C temperatures in the Sierra de la Demanda.

Are riders permitted to receive outside support or pre-book services?+

No, Basajaun is a 100% unassisted event. It is strictly forbidden to reserve any services, including accommodation, before departure. All needs during the event must be arranged personally by each participant once the challenge has begun.

What should riders do if they get lost or experience mechanical problems?+

Riders are expected to be self-sufficient. If lost, they must use their GPS or mobile phone for navigation without calling for external assistance. For mechanical issues, riders should attempt self-repair; if not possible, they may seek a mechanic but must return to the exact point on the route where they left it.

Yes, the registration fee includes basic insurance covering Public Liability, Personal Accident, Emergency Rescue, Death, Repatriation, and basic medical assistance. However, participants are advised to carefully review the policy details and consider obtaining private, more extensive medical coverage.

With proper route preparation, food and water sources are generally available. Participants are strongly advised to carry enough food for a day and to refill water whenever possible to maintain self-sufficiency.
